$1 billion medical school donation means students can go for free
The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York, is calling Ruth Gottesman’s gift “transformational”
93-year-old Ruth Gottesman donated $1 billion to a medical school so students can go for free.
The Albert Einstein College of Medicine calls the former professor’s donation a "transformational gift.”
It’s the largest donation to any medical school in the U.S. and ensures no student has to pay tuition “for perpetuity.”
The school is located the Bronx, New York City’s poorest borough, which has a high rate of premature deaths.
Gottesman inherited her wealth from her late husband, who was an early investor with Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway.
