Australia's new Gen Z party wants influencers to run parliament
Gen Zers in Australia, sick and tired of “boomers” running the government, created a party to bring younger representation into their parliament.
Should Gen Z influencers be running a government?
A group of young adults in Australia is launching the Gen Z party, saying boomers have failed them.
19-year-old Thomas Dolan is behind the movement and on his agenda - electing young social media influencers to parliament. If you have more than 10,000 followers on TikTok or Instagram, you can submit an interest form.
The party also wants to radically change the economic picture for gen z - Eliminating income taxes for people under age 25, providing free university and technical schools and canceling student loan debt.
Other causes on the platform include drug decriminalization and creating a full renewable energy grid which includes nuclear power.
Dolan said he plans for whoever is elected to work with the Green party in parliament to build a coalition to achieve their goals.
Do you think this party will succeed? And should we make our own Gen Z party in the US?
