Did explorers just find Amelia Earhart's missing plane in the Pacific?
Has the decades-long mystery of Amelia Earhart's disappearance just been solved by a South Carolina-based sea exploration company?
Deep Sea Vision, an ocean exploration company, recently announced that it has captured sonar images of what could be Amelia Earhart's long-lost aircraft at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
The images were captured just 100 miles off of Howland Island, a small island near the intersection of the Equator and the International Date line - and the island where Earhart and her co-navigator were supposed to refuel back in 1937.
What has long been the most prolific aviation mystery since the Wright brothers first took to the air, may finally be solved. The captured images depict an aircraft the same model and size as the missing Earhart wreckage, making way for the opportunity to understand what happened nearly nine decades ago.
Deep Sea Vision will be embarking on a new survey to further explore the area and perhaps bring back more answers.
