Vice President Kamala Harris rapidly secured enough delegates needed to become the Democratic nominee.
So what happens now?
The Democratic National Committee wants to make her nomination official a bit sooner than their party’s convention, which kicks off on August 19th in Chicago.
The DNC rules committee decided they will hold a virtual “roll call” at the beginning of August to officially vote and name Kamala Harris as the nominee
She must then name her running mate by August 7th, which is Ohio’s current ballot deadline.
Any other candidates running against her would have had to announce by 6pm on July 27th, so the path is cleared for Kamala.
