Is the Supreme Court still trustworthy?
The Supreme Court is hearing some pivotal cases this session – But trust in the highest US court is at a near-record low.

This is the Supreme Court, As the ultimate interpreters of the law they are nine of the most powerful people in the United States.
They’ll be ruling on some critical issues this session like gun control, free speech on social media and the power of federal agencies.
But according to recent Gallup data, only 49% of Americans trust the Supreme Court.
That’s a near record low and just the second time in Gallup's history that trust falls below half. The all-time low was last year at 47%. Before that, the average trust level was 68%.
Trust plummeted after the Supreme Court gained a conservative supermajority in 2020, with 6 conservative leaning justices and 3 liberal leaning justices.
Since then there’s been controversial decisions many liberals disagree with, like the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which protected abortion rights. Also the expanding gun owner’s rights to carry firearms in public and allowing business owners to refuse to work with gay customers.
And this year, it was revealed that supreme court justices have been accepting gifts and lavish trips.
In November, The Supreme Court adopted a new code of conduct to prevent ethics lapses, but many say it doesn’t go far enough because the justices are left to enforce it themselves
