The Bible enters its Gen Z era
A TikTok account is translating stories into Gen Z slang and the internet is shook.
Have you ever thought of the Holy Bible as a slap?
If you never quite understood bible verses or how they relate to you, maybe you should follow Gen Z Bible Stories on TikTok, translating the bible into Gen Z slang. All facts, no cap.
Its most viral video was about the conception of Jesus Christ and has almost 4 million views.
The Virgin Mary is described as a “pick-me girl for God” passing God’s “vibe check” and chosen to be the mother of the “main character.”
The account currently has 13 videos about different Bible stories.
One video, called “John’s Glow Up” is about one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus, (John) entering his “prophet era,” where he is called to “spill the holy tea.”
The videos have gone viral , some even praising them as a “masterpiece," including those who are non religious and others who just want to learn modern slang.
But some theologists are skeptical these videos will convert viewers to Christianity long term and worry the translations are “cheapening” the gospel.
We slid into the DMs to ask what their motives were, and they responded saying, they “just had the idea one day and people liked it,” so they just kept making more. “And it's fun.”
Other accounts are also translating the Bible into common language for a Gen Z audience, like @thegzt on instagram.
what do you think? Are these translations trolling and being extra or does it slay?
