Social Media Producer
Zivvy is a news media startup aimed at a Gen Z audience, creating news that’s credible, unbiased and focused on formats and issues that matter to this generation. We want to help inform, engage and empower you - the new generation of changemakers.
Are you news-obsessed and the go-to among your family and friends for breaking down what’s going on in the world? Can you identify trending stories that will resonate with Gen Z? Do you enjoy making fun, relatable and engaging content on current events and issues?
We’re seeking an enthusiastic, curious and creative part-time social media producer to create content on a wide variety of issues and trending news stories that will resonate with our audience. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate to hone their social media, video and writing skills while working for an innovative news startup. This position will start at about 15 hours per week with the potential to grow.
You don’t need to have formal journalism training be considered for this position, but you should have experience writing with a voice and creating content about issues and/or current events.
What you’ll do:
Propose story ideas with a vision of how to turn them into content that will inform and entertain our audience
Create engaging content for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, including short-form videos, graphics and data visualizations
Interact with our community to increase our reach, following and engagement across multiple platforms
Contribute to our newsletters
What you’ll bring:
Proficiency in filming and editing video for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube
Passion for staying on top of the pulse of trending content in news, politics and culture
Deep understanding of current social media platforms and trends, and an eagerness to attract new audiences by experimenting with new platforms
Experience managing social media accounts
Strong writing and communications skills.
Willingness to be a team player and respect a variety of diverse viewpoints
Interest in reporting on-camera preferred but not required
